Blowing Kisses

This is for you, Daddy! Sorry if there is no sound, but she is saying 'Hi Daddy!' and blowing kisses :) xoxoxo

Beach Clean Up

John often asks for those balloons in the grocery store. You know, the shiny Mylar ones. We NEVER get them. Why, you ask? This is why...
Every year on the beach we find those same balloons. John is now eager to clean them up and next time we go to the beach he wants to bring a garbage bag so he can go on a hunt... That's my little nature boy!

Lazy Saturday

Lily did not sleep well last night, from 11:30 until 4 she slept in 15-20 minute incriments and screamed in between... gas? I think so. Anyways, today is Saturday so we slept late, played outside, (Lily) had a long nap and (John) read books and this evening we went to the beach. Gorgeous day.

high/low

Some days are packed full. So full that John can't even remember events from that morning at bedtime. Those days, I try to lay with him and talk about our day, help him to remember all the fun (and sometimes not so fun) things we do. We have started calling this "high/low" where we each share something that was great from the day, and something that might need some more work. Today was one of those days. This morning we all slept in late, followed by a quiet morning of cuddles, playing and breakfast. John, Lily and I went down to the library in Petoskey for our first story time of the season, and to 2 markets to try to hunt down more of the staple ingredients for Miss Lily. Back at TRH we played some more, John "watched something" in BinTeens bed (he fell asleep in the car on the way home) and we played outside. Lily took a late afternoon nap after sleeping in the car so I wanted to get the kids outside again after dinner. We took this opportunity to try out the new bike he received from Grandma and Grandpa Goff for his birthday... it. was. awesome.  Love at first pedal!! Lily had a blast chasing him down the driveway and watching him breeze past while she and I cheered. At bedtime, John and I did high/low and his high was "riding around on my new bike!!" A great evening day, indeed.

Words, glorious words!

John was 'late' to talk. Or so they say... Though today he can talk circles around many of his classmates. I think he just did it in his own time. Lily, on the other hand. She is a chatterbox! Sometimes she just babbles with very distinct inflections but much of the time she is saying real words (some we understand, some we have to figure out) so far, her words are: Mama Dada Buhbuh (brother) Ball Shoo (shoes) Moe moe (more) NO Doddie (doggie) Tantoo(thank you) Tickle Pup (cup) Pup (up, slightly different than the cup word) Bana (banana) Bye bye Guh Guh (good girl) I might be missing a few, but whew! Tonight, she was helping me in the kitchen by closing the dishwasher, she was looking at me saying Guh Guh! It took me a couple seconds but when I said "yeah! Good girl Lily!" she had that look of relief that I finally understood when she was saying. Children are such joy. I truly love every stage, watching them learn and develop into little humans. Wow. What a journey...
